hi guys thought id start a thread for the saturday night special event @ santa pod a RWYB event on the 19/10/13, theres alot of interest in this in the RTOC, so lets start a list and see whos going its on a saturday runs 9am to 9pm thanx mick

I'm in as long as I can get away from work.
I will try and make it this year, keep saying I should go, like this sunday, thinking of making my way over there to watch the racing.
well from the surrey meet last night rob,logg,phil may be going also nad and kentraider but ill let them put there names down
I'll be there hopefully in the GTT as long as I get some little bits done first.
As long as its dry it should be good with the nicely chilled inlet temps for forced induction cars unlike the retro show. :)

I shall definitely be going to this, not sure if I'm rostered for that weekend but I've got lieu leave and plenty off annual leave left :) I do hope your right Logg, the heat buggered me up at the retro show, it was fine going up and coming home but shocking when it mattered:crap:

I don't think it was just the heat mate the pod has a very sticky surface especially on very hot days, you can hear the tyres sticking to the track as cars go up. This adds extra load onto the engine thus showing up miss fires and running lean issues you'd never see on the road.

Just getting the set up right which is trial and error. What happened last time you ran?
What's your carb spec? What boost you wanting to run.

it's a standard carb with a 0.9 a/c and 1.2 second stage. Running about 18 psi. Afr readings were low 12`s at wot going up there. Up the strip it pulled away well then just backfired and splattered so I just let off, I did slash a bit of water over me intercooler before the 2nd attempt and it was a bit better but still misfiring.
ive emailed pod to see what the clue is, ive asked about tickets and maybe a club stand again, im waiting for the response, lets hope the weathers ok on the day:coffee::eek: thanx mick
them afrs sound ok neil, and as logg says with hopefully lower air temps etc on the day the car will act better:laugh:

i've cleared a some bits so i'll definitely be going now,i'll be camping (see post 57) and have my bbq with me unfortunately is not the biggest in the world.

lol trying to get a weather forecast for the pod is like pissing in to the wind it don't work. It has its own funky weather system and you try your luck on the day. :)

New tyres arrived today, so getting them fitted. Got my trailer and truck organised!!!
Just finished prepping the stripped out interior and fitting my bad boy bonnet.

Cost me a fortune in fuel, and if heaven forbid the car breaks down I want to get home :)
It shouldn't by rights as I'm only running 16 psi but I've never give it that much stick from a standing start before so I'm quite nervous as to what to expect.
Got the truck and trailer from work so that's a result!!! I had a hirer one on standby but turns out our one is now available!!!
thats handy then mate, im sure your car will be fine as long as that twin choke has ok afrs @ wot, logg will be giving his plenty rest assured:laugh:

just finished loading car ready to rock, the past two weeks did a lot of changes to the car for this event as the setup I was running did not perform that well at efi parts a few weeks ago but did manage to make 529hp:D with a bad misfire, now running new front mount setup changed inlet manifold throttle body now sits on the drivers side and also running 4 separate coil packs now one pre cylinder.
7am start will be there before 9am see yee all tomorrow pics added
well done ted not goin to say anything but should be sweet with the vag stuff cant wait to see the beast in action we got 6am start be there for 8.45 ish too:agree:

robbie sheered the os cv clean where it goes in the bearing
his run was at 10.00 mins where you see the car ver towards the barrier

hey jon, philr5t and dave reed drove for 2hrs and sourced a spare rob was going to repair and try again but the heavens opened and they cancelled it, he was going to try again today weather dependant but he wasnt sure if the sourced shaft would fit, he will post shortly i expect boss:agree:

it was a no go again today as the driveshaft was not a match for the splines, I would like to thank everyone from rtoc that turned up at pod that helped me yesterday and scoff for great customer service sending new remaps by email so my car was able to go to pod and also andy aka logg who help me all week data logging high speed runs in my 5 as passenger:D maybe next time whats another year:cry:

Cracking little day and good turn out of RTOC bods :agree: just a shame the weather and the cars didn't want to play ball. :cry:
I myself had issues. :cry: Mainly with the wonderful rainbow pattern spreading from under my car, which after thinking I'd trashed my new radiator turned out to be the fan switch needed nipping up. Then it started leaking oil from the oil banjo so nipping that up sorted that don't think I've ever gone near that in five years. :sad2: I took that as a sign from the gods of GTT's to no run. Plus I didn't want to drop any fluids on the track after the pod staff spend 5 hours prepping the track. Which seemed very grippy with very good times being posted by people with low terminal speeds.
Well done to Scott on his first time at the pod 15.5 is a good starting point. :agree:
Was cool to see a Renault 5 stock car and all the other mighty impressive machinery running some proper quick cars and go karts. :smokin:

Sorry to see that Robbie. I used the same Clio 172 outer CVs as you and touch wood I had no trouble. I've sent off some data to Driveshaft shop in the USA as discussed. I'll let you know what options they have for us.
The other possibility is to switch to VW outers, which seem very strong. I need to find a VW drive flange to see if it can be turned down to press in to a Renault bearing.
Not to sure on this but could vw hubs be modified on the 5 subframe to accept the full vag driveshafts ??
Chris, are you and Robbie using the CV's that are 32 splines internally and 23 splines through the hub?
