When I changed my turbo it smoked for a little bit. Its cpuld be where the previous owner lubricated the seals before it got stored.

If it hadn't been rebuilt with a 360 degree bearing then the standard tomcat turbo uses a 270 bearing and after years at running factory boost they tend not to last long with anymore boost.

I have seen loads give up the ghost instantly.

If its been fettled then it might be worth adjusting your crankcase breathers as this can often cause turbo's to smoke.

Remove the oil breather pot and blank off the sump return, then pipe the rocker cover straight to either a filter or a catch tank, if it's a tank make sure the tank can breath really easily.

Also if it hasn't been touched since new then 17psi might have fubared it:crap:

Have you got decent oil pressure going to the turbo?

:agree: Definitely worth the £40 for a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge:)

Low oil pressure could be the end of the lump:disagree:
