I'm wanting to lower my 5 in the next month or so, the standard suspension on mine is a bit old now and want to replace it so it handles and looks better.

My question is- what suspension is better suited to my needs? My car is rarely used and I don't track or race etc, just want a decent suspension. I want a smooth feel, I don't want it stiffer than a honeymooners dick though :)

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Don't get the coilovers then, they are rock hard, haven't used the konis myself they however always get good feedback from the people who do.

Also with both gaz and avo the quality is ****, never had either last longer than 3k without the seals going.

Good to know! Cheers Phil. Looks like Koni's are the answer ;)

Gaz produce great shocks... Unfortunately not really suited to road use. Very track orientated and without additional covers which wouldn't be used on a track car - can't see
The damper seals lasting long on a road car... Suspect the same with the avos....

I have a mate who supplies and fits gaz coilovers to mx5's and loads of his customers returned the cars after only a few months. All with leaking seals. I have had my avo's done three times since they were new.

At least I now know why, I did fit the covers that avo supplied but they were ****e. Ended up in a million bits.

Great shocks (both makes) without decent dust covers I reckon the seals won't last more than a few months of normal road use at best... For road going cars the aftermarket koni shocks with full shock seals take some beating... Leave a bit to be desired for track use though...
