Apologies in advance if im repeating any previously covered ground here.

Just stripped the engine down, i thought the crank was fine but the old man seems to think its knackered. Do cranks usually need replaced, reground? Its the shaft where the big ends attatch thats he's worried about. There wasnt any noticable movement from the conrod (excpet a bit of side to side, but prosume thats ok?)
obviously the shells will all get replaced, but iv seen two sizes, a standard and another slighty differant, would i be better with the non standard one as its a worn crank?

Also the liners, they look fine to me but i prosume it is worth changing them out anyway to match the new rings better?

If the liners are ok, a good honing would do.

I'd get the crank to a machine shop for a check and balence, then get them to match the shells for you.

Ahh ok any decent machine shops come to mind?
I take it the liner seals are usually ok left as they are?

Change the liner seals when rebuilding, you will need to add them to any gasket sets not sure if they are included.

Two I know of in Dundee mate , AGRA engineering and Engine resources , Had an Engine in my old pulsar built at AGRA and it was bullet proof never missed a beat but pretty expensive , when i worked at the garage we used to use engine resources for skimming and re grinds etc and sure they were resonably priced , give them a email and see what they say
