I was thinking off converting r5 to injections, as i have most the bits needed but a mechanic i know said if i did the engine would blow unless i had cam, foraged pistons etc. anybody got any comments on this please:confused::confused:
All I know is that it's be done, tried tested and will work perfectly ok!
It just has to be set up right!!!
Take a look through this and should hopefully help

I can't imagine pistons made of plants would work very well :wasntme:

Thanks guys, this is wat i said his reply was wat do you know your a wood butcher....arrrhh!
Time too prove him wrong lol!!
not got a cam (yet) or forged pistons and mine is very happy with injection. just needs to be mapped correctly and all will be well.
the only reson i need a cam is that i have a big turbo on so has a bit of lag which a cam will help with

for a 285 cam from a blank is £200 vernier pully around £110 and springs £60ish then all the little bits you need head gasket /bolts / new chain ect. you could even go as far as head work and new cam followers but have not got a price for them yet or if you can get them.
as for pistions never looked into them.
Hi nothing wrong with wood buchers im one and have rebuilt my engine and it runs sweet just had it rolling roaded it made 176bhp and im just about to fit efi myself and have chris map it
C1j is a strong old lump of metal the forged fancy bits are not needed unless trying to push boundaries 250bhp+. a cam is a worthy addition though to help top end power and help spool up larger turbos.
EFI is all down to having a good tune just like carb. Since having mine properly mapped mine last august and I've not been able to break my engine yet. I've put minimum of 4,000 miles on it since most of it hard miles.
My engine is 5 year old build with stock pistons, liners, performance cam, FMIC and different turbo running 24psi.
