Any help with this?

When the air con is turned on, the engine stutters / revs drop, engine feels like its under load at part throttle etc. Air con blows cold for a 10 seconds or so, then hot , then cold in a cycle. Sometimes its just blowing warm so not working. I had the monkeys at halfords put a guage on but it didnt show zero gas, the needle went into the middle of the gauge in a 'red' zone.

He wasnt sure what it meant and i didnt see what was on the gauge.

Any clues before i get my arse raped at the local monkeys?

Sounds low on gas and your compressor is cutting out from low pressure.
If its got uv dye inside then throw on some yellow specs and shine a uv light under there and it will show up a leak by glowing yellow.
Failing that get it topped up as and when.

Hello mate. Problem as described in my post. Blows, warm / cold and you can hear a humming when on. Also the engine feels like its under load.

I had the halfrauds check for low gas and they said it wasnt. the gauge reading went into the middle/ red zone?

The engine will come under load mate- using air con smashes the granny out of your mpg.

If the compressor is partially seized it will make a knocking noise and obviously won't work properly. Hard to know the problem without looking at it- it could be an intermittant HP switch.

PM me your mobile number and ill call you.

I had a clio which I filled myself with one of those can kits but the gauge on it was not good. Anyway I filled it up with too much gas and it would do the same as described and used to blow cold then hot then cold :) let some gas out and it seemed to work fine :)

Yeah it could be overfilled. I guess by law you can't just let some out!

check that the fan is running on the radiator constantly when stationary at idle...... if it isnt then the pressures will be up and down as the system shuts itself down and then turns itself back on again? - this only holds true if you can drive it down the road at 50mph and the ac is then ice cold, but when stationary it fluctuates.

Fans on sparkle. Seems to stay on too.
