Hi all,

After a new oil pump for my 5, and have noticed the CGB have two pumps for sale, one they describe as only suitable for standard 5s and is not suitable for track/modified 5's, the other makes no reference to the suitability to any cars. the question I have is, is there any difference between them as I thought there was no such. 'Uprated' oil pumps around? Are they just trying to charge a higher premium?

Here's the links for reference

From what I can see the second one has been machined and measured the other doesnt say anything could just be a used pump I can't see any pictures on the link provided mate

Don't go near the the one in the first link - it's a standard Renault 5 'geared' pump. They produce a similar pressure but don't flow as much oil.

The 2nd link is what you want however, it'd be far cheaper to buy a refurb kit and rebuild your own pump. :)

If the casings on your pump are scored badly they will also need to be replaced or flated as best you can, inside the circular bit there isn't anything you can do but where the two casings meet you can use some fine wet and dry and smooth off as best you can.:)

As above really. To take it off the block (from memory) there's some allen keys (4 perhaps?) then once it's off the car you remove the cover (allen keys again) revealing the innards as pictured above. Then it's just a case of checking there's no scoring to the casing and giving it a clean up etc. Easy enough. :)
