My loom looks like its been cut near the subframe below the water bottle. It would seem cutting the loom here makes it an easier job to replace the starter motor?

I've also seen a loom on ebay cut in exactly the same place. Am I right in thinking this is a bodge job to save some lazy git time when removing something from the engine bay. The Red and Green/White have both been cut and joined with a connector block. Load of rubbish. What is the best way to join the big thick red wires together?

I would also consider removing the whole thing and running a fresh red cable from the starter motor to the alternator via the cable tray under the starter motor.

have a serch for the connector of death.
its a little plug and socket which when it gets crapped up and gets a bit rotton on the connectors will give you hours of fun. normally gets cut out and crimped through or a new waterproof plug and socket fitted.
