Anyone know what is it for and what it should be connected too?
A wiring diagram would be great please
Do you mean this?

If so, I've never known myself and would quite like to know :scratch:Someone on here will probably know
It's for the Perc fan! ;)
It's for the Perc fan! ;)
:niceone:
And while we're at it, the little gold funny thing drivers side inner scuttle section is a dim-dip resistor! Usually is the next question that follows the above. :agree:

good man goobie - anybody a wiring diagram for the perc fan ?
there is a sensor under the carb with 2 pins on it what is that for ?
That's a heat sensor for the Perc fan as well as the one that goes above the turbo. :agree:

so 4 wires -
2 to perc sensor and 2 to green resitor ?
Any ideas which colours go to which ?
Off the top of my head you got, Carb, Turbo heat shield, Solenoid between Perc fan and boost hose and resistor. :)

any ideas where a chap might find wiring diagrams for a phase 2 per fan ?

what does it actually do then - mine hasnt got one fitted but my perc fan still works
It's got a bimetallic strip in it that acts like a switch when hot, so when the turbo is hot and the heat rises under the bonnet the switch closes and brings on the perc fan. In regards to the perc wiring. It's takes a live feed off the alternator, one wire splits above the rocker cover and goes to the green resistor one end and the other split goes to the base of the carb switch one side.( orange wire I think ) " so that's a live feed to the two switches.. Second live does the same ( purple I think ) with the split but this is the return from the switches and goes off to the perc fan to power it. The switches are in parallel so if one closes power is sent to the perc fan. Now on the relay next to the perc ( this drives the bulk head solenoid ) it gets its live feed through the 5 th pin on the relay from the switches mentioned earlier. But when the ignition is turned on this relay energises and kills the power to the bulk head solenoid but allows the perc to keep running ( if this solenoid was left open when driving the boost would escape through it ) there is a 5 amp fuse on the perc that MUST be there as the perc circuit is constant live, if the perc fan fails as they often done they have caused engine bay fires in the past
