Basically my 5 had a lot of very dodgy wiring and a aftermarket alarm which didn't work. So with the help of Elliott off here we literally cut the alarm out, joing where it was looping to the alarm so shouldn't have changed anything just binned alarm.

Tested it tonight, started fine and turned off fine. So let it get upto temp... fan didn't kick in where it should, tried the split pin method to check fan switch (was all working before alarm chop) and it didn't work, just sparked. So went to turn it off... switched it off and it continued to run.

Seems everything is fine, but when the rad fan switchs on, instead of switching on the rad fan it continues to run the fuel pump and engine:confused::laugh:

Also the handbrake warning light no longer works, but that's minor at the moment.

from the ras fan switch I have a red wire going to straight to alternator + and a yellow/purple which goes to the loom. As fare as im aware this is right and its the same as before.

Don't know if this is the same but when I did the Volvo conversion you need to use the purple wire from the plug that goes to the alternator. I used the yellow wire and the engine kept running with ign off. As soon as I used the purple wire all was fine. C1j alt has both these wires going to it and the can only have one sounds like there is a short or something to do with that yellow wire and the fan switch.
