View Full Version : Big jim / bms downpipes
can anyone tell me if the bottom 2 bolt flange that mates to the exhaust front pipe turns on the exhaust pipe or has been welded in position?
I have a bms pipe and it turns;)
BMS , mine turns, as I had it in my grubby hands today refitting it, :)
Damn, okay does anyone have any pictures of that end of the downpipe, So I can see how the flange has been made.
I'm making a prototype 2.5inch turbo downpipe and would like to make it near enough the same style otherwise I'll have to make it using a genuine support bracket and hope there's no fitment issues

Oh now I see how they did it!
Any chance you could try and measure what angle that chamfer is? An how thick overall it is so I can get some machined up :)
Thanks for the help chaps I'll make a project thread soon when I got all the bits to build on with turn up this week

If you had the circular section with schamfer facing up the schamfer is about 6mm at 45odd degrees. The whole thing is 15mm tall and 10mm thick (id-od) if that makes sense.
That's great! Cheers buddy hopefully they won't cost much to get made up, or even be able to buy ready made
Another question mate from the bottom how far up does the chamfer start?

The schamfer its self is roughly 8mm the non schamfered part is 7mm. The shamfer goes to nothing so there is no flat top at the end

You sure are a legend!
I'm guessing if Id to od the whole ring must have a outside diameter of 73-73.50mm wide?
Does anyone know if these solid donut rings are easy to buy or custom made only?

I know the measurements don't quite work out but they are just with a tape measure. Just to add the exhaust dosnt slide inside the flange they butt up together.
More than enough info mate.
I'll probably make prototype 1 with a fixed flange and prototype 2 with a bms style flange, as getting the stainless bar in a length small enough then lathed down to make a flange will take a fair while.
I'm checking prices and sources across a few to get the materials cost down :agree:
