Hi guys, pretty pleased with the way my bay is looking at the mo and thinking of getting my hands on one of those yank style 'turbo trumpets' to replace the filter. More for asthetics than anything else as I know its not ideal to run without a filter, just Incase something small finds its way into my compressor wheel!
Was wondering if anyone knows where to get hold of these, after one that fits on the front of my t28. Had a look around but only seem to be able to find the smaller ones for carbs/throttle bodies. Cheers! :smokin:

I don't think those effects will happen with a turbo and intercooler between the intake and the chambers!

And that item in the advert is hardly a trumpet. The Forge one is 'trumpet' shaped and when I tried one there did seem to be a slight improvement in get up and go, off boost to on boost and a change in sound too, compared to the big Piper Cross one that we compared it to.

I quite agree as I said it would be more for looking pretty as im really trying to dress my bay up at the mo, I wouldn't be expecting any performance gains and wouldn't use it for everyday driving for fear of something getting inside the turbo :cartman: I said trumpet as that was the best way I could describe it, my bad

When you tried one Ian did you use it with the filter aswell as I believe Goobie does? Or did you just have the forge 'trumpet' open ended?

I used to run one, I just used some brake ducting of the front of the turbo, to the trumpet and then had some gauze over that...

It definitely made a difference to turbo spool.. I had to knock my boost controller back by about 20% as it kept over boosting! But be warned if something does go in,
wave good by to your turbo :D

That's cool Dave, I didn't realise it would have such an effect, did you angle it upwards to avoid stones etc flying in? They always seem to be pointing well out of harms way. Any chance you could find me a link of the trumpet you used? Can only find ones over seas with £60+ postage

There was an intake trumpet that was part of the old GT Tuning Ramraid kit. I'm sure I've got one lying about somewhere

No, all I done was put it behind the front grill so double protection from sones..

I took mine from my old green cotton filter, but eBay sell them

Cheers for all the help chaps :agree::agree: That forge piece looks good but seems a bit pricey really when I could probably knock something up for well under £20. Ill have a go and if I end up with something im happy with ill stick some pics up. Just have to go measure the front of the T28, unless anyone knows it off the top of their head?
