View Full Version : Erratic oil pressure gauge

Hey again. Well I was out for an evening burn up and all was going okay until my oil pressure gauge started acting erratic and the oil light came on. Both the picture and the level sensor. They just flickered rather than stay on.

I backed off the pedal instantly and it rose back to 4. But as soon as I applied a little pressure on the accelerator pedal it would drop to around 2 and sometimes 0.

I pulled over to check for anything and know leaks where apparent and the engine sounded fine.

Usually when I'm sat still the pressure drops to 2 and when I drive it goes to 4.

Anyway I haven't checked oil level yet as I've just got back but anyone experienced this or maybe the sensor just got a bit mixed?

All might be fine tomorrow when I check it over and test drive it but thought I'd check your brains first.

Thanks again

Cant watch the video due to my internet playing up but i assume this is the standard gauge?

It will most likely be a wiring fault. The o.e gauge is unreliable at the best of times.

Well glad that's all it seems to be. Oil level was spot on this morning and I've driven it with no problems so hopefully it was just a blip :)
