I rebuild a carb and has the following:

120 main
1.0 a/c
Second stage - not sure
Needle valve - not sure

On idle, with the mixer screw wound fully in, the AFR is at high 10. Wind mixer out and the best i can get is high 11/low 12's.

Any ideas?

Snapped

Nope.

I found a exhaust manifold nut missing :dearme:.

Screw changed and now when fully wound in, AFR is 13.5.

If I screw it out, the AFR goes richer. Air leak perhaps?

Stop buggering around and make sure you have no air leaks first... Rom rom rom

If you had an air leak I'd suspect it'd be lean rather than rich and the idle would be iffy/cutting out. Do it idle o.k.? If it's not long been rebuilt I'd start by giving it another clean......

FFS ... Just broke down about a mile from home.

Car was running just fine, came on boost and started spluttering and died. Cleaned idle valve and replaced. It started but then dies again. It fires but doesnt run/idle. Walked home and picked up carb I just took off (had a strong smell of petrol hence the change). Just got home.

Will strip carb back down and clean it up. Wanted to run bigger boost but I might just take the t25 and carb off other car!

If its not broke, don't fix it :ashamed:

How would you check for air leaks?

And you want to ditch the EFi on the other car :sad2::cooter::laugh:

Took the carb off the car to check the main jet and a/c size... Just spend 30mins drilling out the a/c jet as I round it off... Had a spare thingy that is fits into to replace!

Found the problem, the 2 screws that hold the base of the carb to the body of the carb were loose. One was hanging out. The gasket to had also perished.

All put back together and on the car, need to adjust the mixer and test but its fooking raining. Still got to work out what the issue is with the carb I rebuilt.

The carb that is rich on idle may be dripping fuel down the carb throat from a gasket or wrong size idle jet matey

I thought the a/c only came into play at the second stage?

Now the fuel is not pi$$ing out the bottom of the carb, I am getting flat 10's whilst crusing. On boost its lucky to creep to 11 (had it at 14psi). On lift off (after boost), it just pops and bangs. Will a larger a/c sort this?

A/c jet affects fueling on and off boost.A bigger one will lean it out.You need to check all your jets/bushes with drill bits so you know what size they are.:agree:
