View Full Version : Push start button
Evening all, looking for some garanteed expert advice from the rtoc'ers
My FRST is currently equipped with a hurrendous push start button, I want to end it's exsistance! So am looking for some advice of how to get it gone!.
Current setup entails me to turn the keys to full position on the ignition switch , then press and hold the button! What I would like to find out is this an easy removal process?. If so how do I remove it.
Many thanks matt
its probably wired off ign anyways take the couling off and check ign wires all you would have to do is rejoin the wires and it should work back on ignition matey

Can't see it being to difficult, I lurk on a couple of ford clubs just to look through projects ect :ashamed:
they seem to retro fit them easily enough, might be able to get beter advice from someone and sell it on as well :smokin:

Earth leakage?
Would you suggest wire brushing all earths and positive conections ?

Take the negative off the battery, stick a lamp in series and see how brightly it lights up, (everything turned off).
If it's quite bright, then something is using a lot of juice when you don't want it to.
Next, start pulling fuses and relays to see if this has an effect, if not start disconnecting stuff like, the starter motor, horn, alternator etc.
This should point you in a general area. This will help find a component failure, but a wiring fault may be harder to spot.
Focus rs has the wires took of back of barrel and extended to the push switch. I've turned the damn key so many times to start it lol.
Power drain is probably diode gone in alternator .
Alternator is charging at a good rate tho .?.
Easy to check . Disconnect alt over night. See if battery is flat in morning.
Yesterday I spent half the day taking out the alarm, and push start, and about 2 amp wiring kits, hoping after an hours drive today it will hold its charge !
