View Full Version : MET Parking services
Morning all. I have just received my mail and with it is a £100 parking fine from a Mickey Mouse car park firm called MET parking services. They've "fined" me £100 for overstaying my 90 minutes free parking- I was over by 22 minutes.
This was from our meet at McDonald's at Enfield.
Ouch some McDonald's do have a 90 min waiting time :/

£100 for 22 minutes- blatant rip off scam mate. Just seen they've been taken to trading standards etc numbers is times.
I'm going to ring them up and shout and tell them to poke it. It's not a legal fine. Essentially its like me sending you a fine lol

Don't ring them, apparently with these scams, if they know your name you're buggered. I'm sure the letter to you is addrssed to the owner of your car???

Bloody rip off merchants.
We work hard for money and they get it through lazy scams.
A guy at work got the same fine from a McDonald's last month for overstaying.
He paid it and didn't try to appeal it.
Let us know if you manage to get away with it.

I'm not even going to ring them or write to them. It's a absolute piss take. Like crash says we work hat and they scam people and scare monger to get theirs.
I'm not paying it so lets see what happens
a mate had this, he just didnt respond in anyway at all after 4 letters they gave up, this worked for him boss
edit but its your decision in the long run mate
I was fined recently by a private parking firm. I was told to ignore all the letters they send unless they actually try to take me to court. After 5 or 6 letters they gave up. I'm sure they can only chase for loss of earnings so if it was a pay and display you paid for 1 hour and stated for 2 hours they can ask for the extra hour and a small admin fee. Not 100% sure though go on money supermarket they have a section on there about it.
The thing is it was a Sunday- most private car parks don't charge on a Sunday, plus there weren't any signs where I parked saying about the limit. If there was a pay meter etc I'd accept it, but its just a scam.
Its been on watchdog and their advice was to make an aeroplane out if and throw it in the bin.
I'm just going to ignore it. I could pay £50 at the moment but for 22 minutes it seems a little over the top.
It says about their terms and conditions- I didn't see any- so its tough Tatas for them. I'm pissed off the dvla gave my details so easily too. I'm calling them on my lunch break to complain.
Just ring up that mcdonalds and say you were too busy eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts in their car park
The letter should say its a "parking charge "not fine! Civil not criminal. So they can go fu£k themselves !! I got one the other day :coffee:
Personally I'd ignore it and ignore all the letters they send too. They try to scare you into paying and offer a reduced fee before it goes to court and the chances of it going to court are very very slim! One of my friends had 13 tickets from the same company last I heard they hadn't taken him to court

Yeah says parking charge notice. Absolute piss take. I'm just going to call the dvla to complain about handing my details out

Organise a rtoc meet in the car park and let's take it over and buy nothing
Ignore it. Legally they can't do feck all. You'll probably get a few threatening, scare-mongering letters, but simply bin & ignore them too.

Agreed. Only pay council or police parking fines.

New poster! (less than 10 posts)
I had one of these in a local B&Q car park, £100 fine for parking 17 minutes than I should. These are not enforceable and is purely an parking invoice and they would have to take you to court to try and make you pay, which they wouldn't as the amount they ask for is unreasonable and does not reflect a true cost for parking.
Check out Pepipoo website, loads of info on there. I just ignored them and they have gone away.
I once got a 30 pound fine for not been parked in between the whit line parking bays at morrissons.I thought cheeky barstuards and didnt pay.I ended up paying 300 including c:cry:ourt costs.
I have also had one for been parked on the curb outside my own house.
Cheers for all the advice chaps. I have checked out the suggested websites they all have given the same advice- do not reply and do not pay and ignore it.
I think it's disgusting that the py can scare manger people into it. I've gone off on one over this, I've complained to the DVLA who to be fair have said they are going to make enquiries into why they have given my details out.
Tomorrow morning I'm reporting them to trading standards. Makes my blood boil that I work my tits off to earn £100 and they think its an acceptable penalty for 20 minutes worth of parking. If it was a sensible fine I would have paid it.
Power to the people and all that wolfie smith stuff :wasntme:

Ha we should do that. It would be hilarious.

since my wife had an accident we get allsorts. had about 15 letters from a companty saying my car is unlicensed.......................... wtf is a car licence???????????????? lol
also had a parking fine in oxford which was stupid but it was right so i payed it, but about 1 and a half years later got a letter saying i drove in a bus lane????? some right con companys out there. really annoying.
Even if they were legit and this kind of fine was enforceable, if there were no signs stating what the limits are, what the fines are, what company enforces them etc etc then they have no leg to stand on.
Good on you for reporting them TC. Don't let it stress you out though, it's not worth it. :agree:
