Can anyone tell me if this hole in engine block behind timing chaain should be there!
I dug the block out of garage and was gonna take it to engine shop to get it rebuilt!

I`m now worried because I`ve found a few strange holes!! this now has stopped me from taking it for rebuild as I need to compare it to anaother block! anyone have one close to cambridge??:(

pretty sure thats normal on these blocks. I remember seeing this on my engine i rebuilt and was a little concerned. I compared it to my spare block and looked similar.

Your welcome to come round and compare it to mine if you want, pm me for postcode/mobile number. I picked my 5 up from paint shop yesterday aswell so you can have a nosey

That doesn't look right to me - surely there should be a core plug there?

The hole in the timing chain area normally has a metal gauze over it?
