View Full Version : Elf Cup Car
First post!
Hi just joined so I thought I'd post a pic of my latest track project.

Its a gen Elf Cup car which competed in period and then in the Super Coupe, seems to have been unused for quite a while but we have revived it and competed at Brands a couple of weeks ago. I think we have quite some work to do to compete with the BMs etc in the CSCC Future Classics. I don't want to lose its heritage so it will need to stay looking pretty well the way it is.

Only owned it for just over a month! Paid somewhat over the going rate as it had a newly rebuilt engine with all the right bits in it bu the spending only just started - so much for a cheap race car!
Here it is in action:

  Wow!! More cup lovleyness comes out from beneath the great rock!!
Excellent find mate, and it looks smashing. As previously said on here, these Cup cars are very highly regarded.
There are a few of us who own Cup's in various states:
*Big Steve - Raider
*Jesus in the seat of a 5
*KrisM
*Pigsnake
(Sorry if I forgot any more?)
If you look on our profile's you'll see some pictures.
Do you know any History on your car? Who raced it, what it's number was?
If it was mine, I'd be tempted to get the front bumper painted the same colour as the arches, and then it would look AWESOME!!

Was always my big decision........ Keep original or make a competitive car.
Guess what I chose :)

Welcome to the club :)
Would be great to know who used to race that back in the day. I'm sure Colin & Billy Pallets would have some further details on it.

Me and Oli Davies are racing our 5's in project 8 this year.
I will be at Oulton park in June and Oli is doing Cadwell in July, would be great to have 3 cup cars on track racing:)
I know there is another currently racing in CTCRC, need to get him over to Project 8 aswell.
Plenty of advise of info on these boards to help you. Feel free to ask me anything. These cars really can upset the big boys if you get them right :agree:
I'm loving these cup cars more and more:agree:

Your car looks great in period livery and very original too. What decals do you have?
I am making a few (reversible) upgrades to mine as I am racing it in the present and would like it to give a good showing.
so far:
Lexan side and rear windows
Lobster Arm
Planned:
Cannot find any Cup steel wheel so maybe alloys (13" or 15"?)
Bigger radiator
Change to lighter weight battery & move to passenger side
Dave I can't do the Oulton Park one in June but may be able to do the Cadwell race in July, I am looking at CTCRC for August at Mallory. I hope to see you at one of those unless of course you want to come and play with the Future Classics?
Dave H aka Shaggy on here has a full set of Cup steel wheels for sale:agree:

Wow, Ross, 30 mins: thats cheap childrens entertainment!
You're very welcome.
Thanks andybond, glad you liked it, however, the noise scrutineer did not! I had a torrid time stuffing wire wool up the pipe then getting failed again when it blew out as the rev limiter cut in at 5000rpm (disconnected for the race). He even tested me again in the Collecting Area and failed me.
We eventually got to race with the "kitchen sink" stuffed inside it!
