Hi Guys,

I have just put a T28 on my R5. It is a cosworth unit of some type I believe and has .42 on the compressor and .49 on the exhaust (or the other way around) and I have put a forge actuator on it.

Question is, I think im hitting about 4k before its making 12 - 15psi but the car does start to shift once its up there.

Is this normal on a standard engine?

Thanks,
Luke

4k is right for a t28. More boost required though ;-)

On a standard engine that's totally normal, if you have fit a high lift cam and play with the cam timing you can get the turbo to come in earlier

I'll have to wind her up a bit more then, I'll try for 20psi. Just feel a bit guilty about revving her up so high haha.

When you say standard engine is that normal hg or updated? Have you fuelled her for 20pai? Be careful it's a lot of air going in there at 20psi

It's the standard HG that CGB sell woody.

I have an AEM AFR on the 5 though so i'll make sure she's fuelling ok around 20, I'll do it slowly hehe, havent done anything to the carb other than the service kit but she runs fairly rich at 14 or so PSI.

will more than likely need air corrector and second stage mods for 20psi

I'll stick at a lower psi then until I do some reading!

Agreed I run 21psi on my t28 with 2nd stage drilled to 1.3 and ac changed to 0.9 bud as it was leaning out.. What colour was the hg? Red or blue?

I 'think' the head gasket was blue but I couldn't 100% say. Is there a big difference on the quality/pressure they can take?

I'll look into the drilling and the air corrector. I might do it. I use my 5 as a daily though so I imagine if I really wanted to pump the boost up and thus the fuelling im going to start killing the MPG badly?

Might be decision time between EFI for the 5 or a second car!

I use mine as a daily bud and your right foot controls the mpg.. I like that the turbo is harder to come in but it's there at that moment of need.. It dose eat the 99 iv put a £10 in today and reset my clock to see what I'm getting..

I reckon I am getting about 20MPG on my 5.

Cheers BabyblluGTT, good to know its normal.

Haha, I spend most of the time in Leegomery now mate, you welcome to drop by whenever you like though and show us the 5.

The red 5's my dad's, he loves my 5 but wanted an automatic as he's old... Its crazy how different it is to drive, it feels like driving a boat and that at every corner you feel like your going to fall out haha.

We could fit your engine on the auto box and scare him? Haha

Chris, your right mate we should all meet up.
