Hi RTOC,

I shall be turning 30 this year and with regret, have never owned a Renault 5 GT Turbo - though I dabbled with other french hot-hatches, including the wonderful Peugeot 106 GTi.

However, for reasons that include inflated insurance premiums, availability of finances, fear of reliability issues and access to lucrative company car schemes - I never quite got there. And so, in anticipation of buying myself a very nice birthday present (approved by her indoors), I join this forum in search of the holy grail - a low-mileage, well-maintained Renault 5 GT Turbo for use on post-30th birthday dry days and holidays.

Thanks in advance for your help and support - if you know of anything truly mint that is on or off the market, please let me know.

What is your budget?

Are you looking for a standard or tuned/modded R5? Bodykit perhaps?

I haven't really decided on a budget just yet - waiting to find the right car, which in my mind looks something like this:

It doesn't need to be as immaculate as that example and certainly not as expensive, but I figure my ideal car is likely sitting in someone's garage (rather than serving as their daily driver) and may not be for sale through traditional channels e.g. eBay, pistonheads, autotrader etc.

Good luck. I know of a white one sat in a garage lol not moved in 3 years. Looks like I'm not going to either. This poco hospital bed is plastic junk. If I find one more tube in me I'm gonna crack up, I'm piped up like an engine bay!
