View Full Version : Raider Alloy Refurbishment!!!!
Need help....
I'm trying to get a set or raider wheels refurbished back to new. I've taken them to a few local shops and every time I'm hit with the answer they can't do it. Apparently to get them looking brand new the full wheel face needs to be painted in the raider colour then put on a diamond cutter and the outer edge machined back to get back to metal then lacquered.
I've just rang another company and the bloke reckons it could never be done and I'm waisting my time haha.
Has anyone refurbished these wheels with a perfect finish? If so who did you use? Seriously stuck now and I'm itching to get them sorted and back on the car.:cry:
I no a man that can but he's in Halifax west Yorkshire. He's ve:agree:ry good though.

Personally I would take them to a metal polisher to refinish the edges then get the centres painted
The edges won't have the lines/machine marks all the way round but would be nicely polished
My metal polisher is up for having a go with mine - I'm not going to bother though as like the big brakes my car came with so need 15's

I could go down this route but not sure how good the edging would be on the final product...
Been given a contact for somewhere else who has a diamond cutter so will see what he says.

Higgy, try this place:
http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/
We use them at work and they get many many thousands of £ from us each year with the contracts we have.
Brilliant results too so should be able to do your wheels exactly as you want them.

Can be done but not cheap.
I got quoted £30+vat per wheel just to diamond cut the rim for my williams wheels, hence why i didnt bother!
Romax used to do diamond cutting on the lip, might be worth a shout?

I know its not completely oe, but I did a set of the Renault clover leaf alloys is it? I painted them black, then polished the outer lip myself - looks fine.
Im sure professional companies could do something similar to a better a standard.
or as already suggested, pristine - the best wheel refurb place iv come across

BJV Engineering did my old Porsche wheels.. fantastic work and can paint as well. google them and look at the examples
I paid £20 + vat per wheel for polish on mine. To be honest, its so easy todo, you could actually do it your self with a D.A. :agree:

As mentioned pristine, I,ve just got back my monza II's of my golf full face diamond cut, very good finish well pleased, £280 and that inc being picked up and delivered by courier which they sorted out. That was for 18" so give them a go had my wheels back after 10 days.

They look excellent Carl :agree: are they polished or diamond cut?
I think these guys also did nuggets willaims wheels a few years ago. I should really drop my P's off to get them done since they're localish but keep on spunking my cash konis, welding, flocking, four pots, France. :wasntme:

they were blasted to bare metal, painted and then diamond cut across the face, they came out better than i was expecting, especially when you concider they had spent over 10 years stacked behind someones shed and only cost me £15 for 6 wheels, would highly recomend having them done by these guys if you are within driving distance of hemmel

I'll let you know mate but I don't think I'll get them back before I go back away to work next week so it will be a few weeks before I'm back home and see them. Ill post before and after pics as soon as I can

S.E.M ?
S.E.M ?
Yeah but didn't get chance to ring them. Have you used them?
Possibly about to.
I've used Romax in the past, and they were spot on, but now he charges a flat rate for upto 17" size alloys. If I had 17's, then fair enough, but I'm not paying the same price to have a set of 13's refurb'd, hence looking at alternative companies - S.E.M being one of them.
They quoted £200 all in, 3 day turn-around, and will re-fit the tyres, valve & balance them.
I remember the time (and it wasn't that long ago) where you could get a set of alloys refurb'd for under a one'er...
I tried Romax first but he didn't have the facility to diamond cut the outer rim. Also tried a few places in Hartlepool only off the back of a couple of mates. Tried a company called motor cool in Thornaby who said they could do it but when I turned up said they couldn't . That's where I got S.E.M s number from. I never got round to ringing him as I'd tried Pristine who said they will collect and deliver my alloys for free so couldn't complain.
I tried most places in Teeside to no avail, you won't be disappointed with pristine mate:agree:

right! got my wheels back today from Prestine and they look awesome. excellent job done on them. Although quite pricey and an overall cost of £400 but totally worth it.
