View Full Version : OffSide Tail-light not illuminating but Brake is? (Stop & Tail Bulb)

Anyone know if there is a separate fuse or something for the Tail Light?

My Nearside Lights all work fine,
My offside Cluster (rear indicator/Fog and Brake light) work fine but just not the tail.

I swapped N/S Cluster (which works fine) over with O/S and it still don't work so know its not bad connection or bulb.

I've cleaned the Plastic Connector which slides onto the cluster (see pic) and i think its the "Blue" wire which is causing the problem.
It's strange because the same bulb is for Brake & Tail and it illuminates when i press the break but the Tail light don't come on. (i've tested bulb on other side and it works fine).

Same problem with O/S Front Side light (blue cable) i've cut the block off, connected wires straight to bulb holder, that don't come on neither.
So its definitely a fuse or dodgy wire somewhere?
Appreciate any ideas etc, :scared:

Break in the wire somewhere mate. For a temp fix you could tap into the wire on the opposite cluster.

Yea that's what i was going to do but i already have my Reg plate light running off that, Not sure if it'd be too much?
Just strange that my front Offside Side-light has gone aswell.
Both Blue cables.
Must be a break under the dash coming from light stalk.

I Had this it was the Cluster unit itself

I was hoping it was, but i put the cluster on the Nearside set and it works fine.

I just pulled this cable (highlighted in yellow) out of the round hole in the wing,
it's not connected to anything at the other end where the fuse is?
Also, anyone know what those 2 black relay things are for please?

The plug is for the anti perc fan. The relays are for the horn & perc fan. Carpet up and test meter out :)

Cheers Brigsy..
Don't use perc fan and horn is fine so will stick it all back in the hole :)

My multimeter is a pile of crap, (unless im using it wrong).
Need to find out where this break in the cable is,.
Last resort is tapping into NS cluster.

Don't believe it, after all that agro!!!:cartman:

yes yes, should have been first thing i checked but i didn't know there were 2 separate fuses for Nearside & Offside Lights. I assumed they all run off the same one!

Had the carpet up, side loom out, cleaned clusters and connectors,

Thanks to Jonny smith pointing this out and a 7.5 amp fuse, my tail light & front side lights work again.

Cheers guys for your help!
