any renault tecs who can help with this one. its a megane 1.6vvt on a 56 plate.

put card in and press the start button with the brake pedal down all the dash lights up you here a click and nothing. starter is fine as i have tested this but there is a buzzing from the throttle body and a slight clicking from time to time. is there a common fault on these to look at first

it has done this in the past but as soon as you try again all was fine. last time it did it it said brake fault on the little screen but nothing was found to be wrong. this time there is no message. i need to get the car started so i can get into my garage to work on my 5 and get my other car back off the missis. (aswell as geting the thing to a garage to be sorted out)

any help would be greatfully recived

Does it whizz over on the starter motor, or does it do nothing at all?

it dose nothing at all apart from a click and then the screen then says remove card. i have tried both cards and even took the card out and tried. it then said card not there so i know the card reader is ok.

Try new batteries in the remote. Had this with my girlfriends old megane. Might not work for you but worth the try

Have you tried pressing the clutch down rather than the brake? I had an issue on my wife's Megane but it was only when I pressed the clutch to start it, it was a broken wire on the clutch switch.

Engine management fuse, one of them blows and stops the feed to starter. Check all fuses with a multimeter. Just a guess from this end but a good start.:agree:
