Wot wheels do you guys think would suit a red 5, I have original speedlines on which I want to keep for best! But I want some cool light 15s for better handling, wot et would be best and wot stud pattern ect, any pics of your red 5s would be great. Ive been looking at the Rota range of wheels as want something diff to the norm, anyone had any experience with them?

It's all down to personal preference mate. Personally I think some retro wheels like Voodoos would be good!

Wheels is all down to personal taste- retro wheels for a retro car :)

I think Hockenhiems look good on the phase 2, especially if you have the colour coded nut for the centre! (Just my opinion)

I like Rotas on a 5 too hence the cups that I have on mine8 x 16 I presume! How did you get those to fit! Most people have trouble with 7 inch 16's.

Wheel spacers at the front to clear the shocks?

What tyres?

How is your ins only £116?!! My 1.1 Fiat is £125.

Try J9's!!! Yeah was a headache, i helped fit them whilst my mate still had it (before I bought it) we had to put spacers front and rear (9mm from memory) its a seriously tight fit! But I think they look decent especially with what I have planned for the rims! The tyres are 195/45/16s.

My insurance is with esure under classic insurance fully comp, no no-claims, admitting to a fault claim 2 years ago.

I hope this is of help, give me a shout if you need anything else.

they are a retro wheel that suits a retro car..... ;)

personally, i think alot of the newer wheels just don't work with the 5's shape.

although a nice set of split rim gotti's or BRAID would be loverrrrly.

9inch  :D

I wonder how strong they are. They look like they might bend at an outer edge over the first small pot hole.

You could fit 245 width on those??

Do they make the steering weird in any way?

Wear the tyre inner edge too fast?

Do you have any upward suspension travel before the rub on anything?

Don't they poke out beyond the standard arch extensions? Andrew Cooke had to extend his extensions to fit the Williams kit which is about 50mm wider. You've gone about 1 1/2 inches wider?

I know what you mean about the potholes but I'm ever such a careful driver..... Honest! Lol

As for fitting larger tyres although I could fit them, with the smaller width they fill the rim then taper in up to the tread which nicks a few mm thus allowing a little more movement suspension-wise.

I haven't noticed much difference in the steering apart from it being heavier at low speeds but being on the larger side I don't find it too much of a problem.

I've not really driven it enough yet to see about the tyre wear but you will get that on any car that has either had stiffened or lowered suspension I suppose.

No they don't stick out (possibly due to the design of that particular wheel) but as I said it is a bloody tight fit!
