What spec oil do I need to refill my gear box? And can any one recommend the cheapest place to pick some up;)

I used to get 5 litres but you keep filling it up until it starts to flow out of the fill plug hole. Make sure the car is on a level surface.
The plug is on the front of the box facing the radiator. Its a large hex like a 24mm ROUGHLY

5 litres what gearbox was that? all jc3 boxes take 3 1/2 litres and jc5 boxes only need 3 litres;)

Trip to the shop then iv only got a litre and half in there :crap:

I think Marc means, he bought it in a 5 litre can as opposed to buying individual cans of 1 litre.
A lot of the time it's cheaper to buy one 5litre can and it gives you some spare.

Also if you look in the Haynes book of lies, the jb with plastic filler takes less than the one with the metal plug filling hole.. ;)

buy 5l tub from local motor factors not halfords , or motor trade parts place i payed £14

u can also get semi-synthetic gear oil.....75-90
