Timing chain tensioner

Hi guys I need to change the tensioner as the new one is not tensioning the chain, can this b done without taking the chain off as only fitted a new chain a few hundred miles ago. Thanks.

It can, but cut the cable tie holding the new tensioner after you've fitted it.
