View Full Version : Maiden voyage and I seem to have lost boost?

Okay, so 25 miles into my journey and the car is running like a dream. I get to a set of traffic lights and take off, I take the car in first to about 6000 revs and dip the clutch to change gear and I instantly feel the car has lost power and the exhaust seems to sound louder???.

I drive home normally without the car boosting over 0. You can feel it starting to pull from -5 to 0 but it never goes over. The car still drives fine with no smoke etc from the exhaust.

I have removed the dump values incase they were sticking but it would seem they are not the problem. All the pipes are fitted properly. I have a front mouth inter cooler just to point out.

Not really sure what the problem could be? Any help would be appreciated

Turbo? Maybe did it make any noise like a pop. What about pipe for actuator

Sounds like the actuator has popped of the the wastegate to me since the exhaust has got louder.

Also no pop noise as I can remember.. The car just seemed like it give up.

I see the actuator might have popped of the waste gate. I ll have to remove the heat shield to see, but I'll check now. Car has cooled down.

Okay so this is what it looks like. So do I un screw it until it reaches then tighten it back up to where it was?.

Also am I missing anything that might have dropped off?

Thanks again

The easiest way to re fit is to pipe a compressor/ foot pump to the actuator pump up until it moves enough to clip over the eye fit a new C clip and then re pipe up as it was before job done.

Or you can try pulling it with some mole grips but some actuators are too strong so the compressor/foot pump works a treat.

Get a tight c clip too when you replace. I lost mine and a cheap one popped off on a drive over the moors, had the worst 50 miles going up and down hills with 50 odd bhp
