my mate has started doing glass bead blasting. its very fine and not harsh on soft metals ie alloy. his only just started doing this. i dont know if people are interested in this on here but i had him blast some boot badges and my olf mk2 golf inlet just to show what its like.

could be ideal if you want engine bay brackets done?? heads?? inlet mani??engine mounts etc list is endless.

anything oily will need degreasing befor its blasted!just so you know. if anyone wants bits done drop me a pm :agree:

his prices are pretty good. just depens how long it takes. set of boot badges £7.50
i will post pics up.

would this be ideal for stripping paint off alloys? And not to harsh to get to a stage ready for paint

It'd take ages to glad blast a set of alloys, it's quite fine, best off with a light shot blast.

had a couple of pm`s. just so everyone is aware, you will have to pay postage on sending and returning. or drop them off and collect etc

inlet mani is about 50mins worth of blasting which is £15 quid. gives people an idea

yea but shot can damage the alloy still. i know alloy art in southend uses glass bead on there alloy refurbs. alloys are quite time consuming too so just depends on how long they take to blast as to what they cost

We use a wet glass bead blaster, a plastic bead blaster, a walnut shell blaster, a chilled iron blaster and an alumina grit blaster for various components at work. I have put different parts into these blasts and so far my favourite was walnut sheel. I am currently testing a sodium bicarbonate blaster which is so soft you can put glass and rubber in without damage. I tested it on a V12 engine block and it cleaned it up so well could see the original machining marks in the block!
