Here are some pics of my car. I had hoped to put up the build but the pictures have been miss placed :(

The ktec bumper is temporary, I'm currently shortening my carisma to be more road friendly. Got this one from gtturbo spares. Was told it was tungy grey, not tungy grey with glitter!!! :)

Anyway enjoy

Yes mate, do you have one? Its the one from TTS motorsport when he was around early 2000's... i also got his one of a kind turbo that he put together when he give up the renault seen. It goes like a rocket.

18psi

165bhp at the wheels and 205 in the engine. One thing though that carb is juicy and at current petrol prices whoaaa!!

I'm pretty sure Craig from TTS lives just round the corner from me. If you ever need any info on your setup I can always enquire for you :agree:.

No don't have one but remember seeing the custom alloy carb top many years ago. :)

Well at least the Surrey meet isn't to far for you to worry about mpg. :wasntme:

Sounds rather lively with not to much boost. :agree:

When I seen Craig last a few year ago he lived nr the joke shop. I think he's still there but not too sure. He sold me the kit back in 2003 and when I put my car on the road in 2008 he was more than happy to come and help me fine tune the set up. He's a top bloke. I think he still loves the 5. But he was mentioning he got a load of problems off people if there car exploded etc.

He was saying the 5 he had was nearly 300 bhp with the turbo he gave me. He even tried to sell me his " now correct me if I'm wrong" Teflon ( thevstuff that handlrs really high temps) coated engine internals for 300£. I would have if I hadn't just rebuild mt engine from the bottom up!!!

I'm live south of Alton now, used to live in alder shot on the old boots site. Where's the Surrey meet usually held?.

I just got insurance today so I'm hoping to get my car mot'd next week with a bit of luck.

I'll get my profile updated to show what I did to my 5

Well back in the day, it was to rag it down the 1/4 mile.

13 years on I'm going to do it this year. :)

Def old school style. I've currently got my old carisma front bumper getting chopped to shorten the height as all it does is scrape and crack on uneven roads. I know it's not a popular style anymore but I've got a more open view on it.

I kept the rear bumper and original grill. When the bumper comes back it should help improve the lines on the oe arch skirts. The rear arch skirts are moulded onto the quarter panel and onto the side skirts so it look like one. It's a nice touch IMO.
Not a lot of people care to much for the carisma skirts but I love them on mine.

When any modification is done well it usually looks good. From supple to extreme. I used to druel over the mag feature 5's back in the day. :)

Same here mate I used to love to purple flip dawsons demo car ( think it was dawsons anyway ) had a carisma kit on and blue silver interior, looked awesome back in the day, mines pretty standard looking now but we can't all have the same, everyone's jumping on the oe bandwagon at the mo but I prefer the oe+ look myself

ScottKinnear

I think everyone is going oe so they can pull in the readies when they become proper sought after collector mobiles...

Unfortunately mine will never become that. Unless Chris Evans wants it?

I had a good read on the charge coolers installed on this site and had originally put it like loggs one. But to ease bleeding and heat soak I chose to include a slightly longer pipe run to keep mount it in a better location.

I also moved my header tank to the scuttle area

Fear not Steve.. The jets are only 25hp.. I've also got the max controller so I can choose when to bring in the power, for how long and to what %. I've also got transducers on the fuel line and nitrous line to keep pressures in check. All in all I don't know why I didn't do it sooner!!!

Bye bye turbo lag

I see your also after some slicks, also an essential item for pod racing:agree:

I'm hoping to get out next year to a few rwyb's if I don't break mine beforehand that is:wasntme: I'm still putting it back together from the last time it went bang...........

One things for sure if you like drag racing, you will either have to not mind getting your hands dirty or not mind paying someone else to.

I hate to think what I would spend if I could afford it. :smokin:

I take it your running 12.9 head bolts?

With the fuel side of the NOS setup, how have you done it? You need to ensure a constant supply of fuel at a set pressure ( at least 5-6 psi above boost pressure).

Also you dont really want a hean of pressure in the fuel system to the NOS solenoid as when you first you it, it'll be megga rich.

When I looked into nos I was surprised to hear that nos goes with turbo chargers like candy and a baby. As it's cooling properties reduces engine charge temps.

I was also surprised with the amount of control you can have with it too.
I mean with a max controller you can have independent controllable power in each gear.
You can have it come in low at 50% and rise over 2 seconds to 85% etc.

You can control it not to become live until a certain rev range and cut out after a max rev range.
You can cut it out also at a certain psi so once the turbo is full spool you can tail the nos off.

Not so fast and furious after all like I believed.

Apart from sending the gearbox away to get reconditioned the whole car has been fully nut and bolt restored from myself and my dad.

It was your 12 second thread that got me interested in dragging the 5. I always wanted to do it but thought my time had past. Now I've come to the conclusion my car will never be a mint example so I've decided to enjoy it with drag racing and a few track events.

With my setup, the family never enjoyed a country drive in it anyway and all I did was blast it about once a month.

Under advice from the wizard of nos wizard I had to t piece into the fuel pipe from the fuel regulator and the carb.

As for the second bit of your post. I'm not sure what you mean but the max extreme has a delay feature for both nos and fuel to make sure both are right before mixture at the cross fire injector.

The transducers on both lines look after the pressure monitoring side and it will cut off the system if it's not mixing right.

How does the controller know which gear you're in?

Good info this. I had no idea NOS could be so versatile.

How does the controller know which gear you're in?

The max v1 can only go up gears so once set to go a voltage is sent and stopped every gear.
As the nitrous is activated at full throttle I assume( and any other variables you might have set up)( as I haven't wired this part up yet) it will be wired up to this switch.
The max v2 knows what gear your in so is more versatile I don't know how that one works.. It's for the extreme racers.

Well after a very slow start due to a blown fuse I finally managed a static test!!! I was extremely happy to see my nitrous bring wasted as it turned to gas in the air.

Next was the test all plugged in. ( at this point the pressure was down in the bottle as the heater blanket had issues ( which took a few hour to get to the bottom of but finally solved it )

Held the accelerator down to 2000rpm. Hit the test button on the max controller.
The revs rose comfortably to 4000rpm. Strange what a bit of cold liquid can do!!! Feel sure this would have been higher if the bottle was warmer as it's meant to be more 5000rpm.
It would seem it's running rich on fuel but I'll no better after another test later on.

Took it out for a drive. Even with a shot of 25hp you could feel the engine working faster and the car climbing the rev range a lot quicker.

In gears 2-3 it runs rich 10.3-6 and in the later gears it ran 11.0-11.3.
It was hard to look at everything ie boost, fuel, rev counter etc with the short roads and bad weather so I think a full tank if fuel a 50hp shot upgrade and it will be a trip down and up the m3.

I think I have enough left for a few more tests next week and hopefully this new place can trim my transducers to be more accurate then too
