You ideally need a tyre with alot of flex in the sidewall for drag use. Trackday slicks are usually to hard to be effective.
You need to be looking at M&H or Mickey thompson tyres really if you are getting serious about times. Or find some cheapo budget 185/195/ 60 /13 & play with tyre pressure to get 60 fts down.

I used 14" mickey t's on laguna rims (a bitch to fit BTW) & they cost me well over £300 a pair. & ran them with 9-10 psi pressure
Alot have gone to 15" M&H i think now but they might need arch mods as they are pretty wide.

Wow

I'm not massively serious about drag times Glenn's record is safe :) I just want to get grip this year.. I was hoping someone would pop up with two wheels and tyres?

They do pop up from time to time, i paid £200 notes for my 14" drag slicks they are a huge help, with regards drag times, you can do fairly impressive times with not so much power.

Even i can manage fairly consistent low 1.9 60ft,s at pod an I'm pants:wasntme:

full throttle launches are ace, if your getting upwards of 200ft/lbs you may also want to think about a paddle clutch when using slicks.

The 20" M/T on 14" rim works pretty well on a 200-250hp GTT with standard ratios, but they cost a few bob new as steve says. Don't go for anything bigger than 20" if you're on standard ratio's. 22" work very well with the short final drive, Ren 11 turbo, Clio 172 gearbox, etc.

Couldn't see the 20" 14's on the site. Try here as thats where I ordered mine from.

http://www.robinson-race-cars.co.uk/

Think they were 8" wide so you need a 7j 14" ideally, can't remember what the laguna steelies were but they worked, had a bit of overlap & I know I had to try 2 different tyre places to fit them & get the air in....

A mate of mine races a lot of minis in the miglia series and often sells his used tyres. Perfectly good for the odd drag race. I think the last set was about £80 a pair? 13 x 9s.

They're not slicks but the yoko 048s are a good tyre, don't last long though!

If you could find the details that would be great

I'll have a look, I'm sure he posted them up on fb last time he was selling some.

There's quite a few part worns on eBay too, which aren't too badly priced.

I wouldnt bother with track slicks or the yoko a048 on the strip..no better than half decent road tyres.
