Hi, I have searched the forum but can't seem to find a solid answer. Both doors have knackered pins and I'm in the process of removing them. I've seen that the top pin gets hit down and the bottom pin hit up? I've covered both in maintenance spray do I need to use heat too? Is it best to buy a specialist tool or is there something that works just as well?

Thanks

When I did mine it was a pig of a job. You need a rollpin removal tool, it's basically a bolt that slips through the pin then you screw a adapter that's the same o/d as the pin on then using the bar supplied you hammer them down. This will make more sense if you could see the tool:scratch:

Welcome to the forum.
When I replaced my door, I bought the pin removal tool, but they still wouldn't budge. I bent the thing in the end. I'm pretty sure I had to drill them out.
Good luck.

brute force, once they start moving they come out quite easily

Thanks for the replys. Am correct in thinking the top pin needs to be banged down the way and the bottom pin banged up the way? Or doesn't it matter? Thanks

Mine were a pain in the arse to get out, the passenger side came out in the end, I gave up on the drivers side.

iirc, they can come out either up or down, although its easier to hammer down on the removal tool with the amount of force you will have to use. Inserting the pin remover up into the bottom door pin is tricky as you have to bend it round to get in past the bottom edge of the door.

I got one of these tools

Ok thanks I've got a 3 piece punch set I'll try it with later. If not ill see if one of my mates have a set. I can get a big sealey set for £24 but don't really want to spend that on something I'll use once :)

As mike says, punch bolts and hammer the *******s out, and again are hard to move but will free up, :)
