Bad day

As it was such a nice day and I had the day off work, i booked the Extra van in for a MOT. Well did not even get to the MOT station and it popped a brake pipe:sad2::sad2:. Not good. Just about made it back to base, with a very long brake peddle. Looks like one of the long pipes that run to the back has corroded. So another job to do. Will change both pipes to the back just to make sure. Having never changed these before, is it an easy job or not?

Piece of piss to do.
Undo both ends of the offending pipe and remove.
Run new copper pipe and keep the bends smooth and no sharp bends.
Add the new nut and then flare the pipe and make sure it didn't split from over flaring.

Practice on some spare pipe if you've never flared it before. The old stuff is steel so don't use that to practice on as its completely different feel when you use copper.

No doubt something else will break when you try and undo the old pipe so get ready for that. Brake pipe spanners will also help but if you don't have any then cut the old pipe flush and use a ratchet and socket.
