View Full Version : Fuel gauge problem

I fitted my new orange dash clocks today, all work perfectly, apart from the fuel gauge no longer works-


I've checked:

the nuts on the rear are tight
All plugs are plugged in
Needle isn't jammed and is free moving
No burnt tracks on the board

Anyone else had this problem? It worked prior to me changing the clocks.

Hi mate does the needle move at all even the slightest when you turn the ignition on ?

No matey, not even a twinge lol.

I'm just wondering if you have put the needle back on in the wrong place might be worth checking the connection on the sender unit or better still try giving it another live feed to see if the needle on the gauge moves mate

It may well be mate, although I used the article big Steve made (thanks by the way Steve) & all the other gauges work perfectly. I'm going to try checking the voltage tomorrow, just seems very odd. Clocks have been in and out more times than the Hokey Cokey today :/

Had a look again today- seems that when the needle is refitted, it seizes up. Just waiting for mike to get bk to me with prices.

Gutted to not have it ll back in and running, but never mind.

Is the needle pushed on to tight and jamming against the dial.
Are you on oe dials or do you have new ones stuck over the top ?

They're replacement dials from the shop fella, I removed the OE ones before refitting the needle. Yeh it seems to jam up when pushed on. But even fitted looser without the plastic trim on, it doesn't move.

My car had white dials sat over the top of the originals and the needle used to catch on them if pushed to far. I'm sure you can change each dial individually so you get to keep the rest and just swap out the fuel. I had a load of them from various clocks and binned the lot. I'm sure one will be donated quickly enough.

I've got loads of gauges in bits mate. I'll have a look when I get home, I'm snowboarding at the mo
