Hi, the 5 failed its mot this morning on strut tops, mines a phase one with Koni front shocks, do I just need to pick up some campus ones?

Why did they fail mate, did he give you any more detail?

I assume you can just replace the bearings and rubbers if that's what's wrong?

I guess there was play in them? Jack the car up and grab the strut and see if theres any play. If there is take it off and check the top nut is still tight.

It is possible to put the rubber donuts in upside down too which causes play..... :scared:

Or a perished donut. You might find the top hat and bearing are fine.

Looks like the top of the shock leg, just moves up and down freely of the mount, looks like the bearings have failed in the mount, does that sound right?
If so what's the fix? Can I use camparse mounts with it being phase 1

Bearings the same matey top hats are what's different along with the shocks. The top hat hole has probably worn oval. Take em off and rebuild I would say

Gunna strip it down in the morning mate,can you remember we could hear a clunk round left hand corners at national day?maybe that was the start of them going

The clicking is uaually a sign your bearings are shot. Quick and easy to replace.
If your on standard springs then you will need to use clamps.

could be any of it, it all fails. rubber dohnut, bearins seize/come aprt - top hats break through

The clicking is uaually a sign your bearings are shot. Quick and easy to replace.
If your on standard springs then you will need to use clamps.

Clicking is normally more cv joint on the turn, bearings are more of a whine, he said clunk and that's the sound of something that's propper fcked..
