Looking to get a VX220 to use as an everyday car. So far my research stretches to the buyers guide on vx220.org so got a list of the basics to look out for. Noticed a couple of VX's at Blyton last year so guessing a few of you guys have some experience with these. Just wondered what you think of them? Are they easy enough to live with?

Mainly thinking about where I'd take it to be serviced, etc. Are Vauxhall dealers/garages suitable to deal with these cars still given that it's not like any other Vauxhall? Or should I be looking at specialists and does anyone know of any in the North West?

You want to use one as a daily? That'll be a love/hate relationship :)

A mate of mine has just sold his after having it for the last five years. Although it was his only car, he didn't need to use it every day, and he was glad! They're great track cars, but they're not every day cars :crap:

As Steve said, Grier's the man to talk to about them.

Think he tracks it between his crimefighting duties in Gotham city with Robin:laugh:

Do you know which one he purchased, sure I will know it :coffee:

Clearly to late to give advise on purchase but depending on if it the turbo or an n/a there are slighly different things to keep an eye on although both share some common challenges

Ran my old one for a few years using every day from work to europe trips and track days and you need to love them for all year motoring and sense of humour with it. But I drove on snow with 888's and still got home......not straight or fast though lol

A lot of upgrades available now to address poor heater which makes winter harder

Do NOT go to a vaux dealer and if you let me know where you are I can advise on your service options

If your local to me I am sure I could look after you :agree:

BRILLIANT CARS!!!!!!!!

Especially on the standalone package with Obi one Scoff  was driving the N/A to astra VXR engine and 6 speed box conversion which Scoff did the standalone on and mapping etc and dam its bloody good!! New owner is VERY happy with the end result

Now need to get my finger out my butt and finish the Audi TFSI 380bhp conversion :smokin:

Nice colour

Looks completly std, cloth interior is rare on a turbo!

Dealer states power steering - thats a 1st :D

Im oustskirts of Coventry not a million miles from NEC

They are a completly different animal tweaked - not sure of his car history but take it easy - they are well known to catch out new drivers to this configuration

Only ever had 1 rear-wheel drive car before this and that was an MX-5 :ashamed: so not quite the same

Fully intending on driving this as if I was on ice for the first few months, after hearing plenty of horror stories (and a watching few youtube clips :dearme:)

Might be glad of a heater upgrade, I'll see how I get on. I've got 3 months to take it back with any problems so might be worth a look over by an enthusiast! I'm in Preston, so a couple of hours down the M6 to Coventry isn't too bad for the odd trip :agree:

Glad to hear it, they have a heap of ability to exploit but they will swap ends quicker than you think when pushed in the wrong conditions.....may have had a 720 spin at Oulton many years back......on a sighting lap LOL :scared:

Mx5 will drift nice, the VX is a harder animal to tame

Sounds like your taking on ownership with the right attitude and sure you will be just fine, body work repair is so high on these cars due to GPR clams :(

There is a monthly meet in the midlands and good to meet the rest of the gang but also sample various states of tune and super shiney versions etc - certainly in the summer may be worth a run down

Just PM me if you need anything :agree:

Or if your on the vx220.org site im on there as Duncan VXR
