View Full Version : Club video?

Ok, this is just an idea but,

How about the club organise a video to be made? It sounds quite ambitious I know but one of the other car clubs I belong has done 3 DVDs now and they are are a free to join forum. Zclub.net incase you're wondering. It's a club for Datsun Z owners which as a club would have less members than RTOC if you had to pay for membership due to the rareness of the cars.

If you could find a small firm willing to edit/produce the DVD for a large advertising space on the DVD case then I'm sure price wouldn't be too bad. Maybe even filming too?

Advertising space could also be sold on the DVD. A short video advert from the likes of Ktec promoting modern renault turbo services etc and still images from current board advertisers with a nod towards club discounts that they already offer?

Thoughts of what could be covered:

National day. Track time, rolling road, interviews with attendees especially the foreign contingent.

A dyno day such as the recent one that happened at scoffs

Sangliers. Someone to document the trip and goings on

Interviews with the tuners. If someone such as scoff or Hi5 were willing to have a feature on there own big power cars and what would make an ideal fast road car with a members motor including hints and tips etc maybe even before and after dyno runs with mild mods?

General buyers guide for the gt turbo. Maybe with a real clean car like big Steves raider showing you where to look for rot or wear and tear etc

Tech article. Maybe a brief how to on a carb rebuild or similar?

Old coupe cup clips.

Recent cup car action

Pod day coverage

Maybe some original renault 5 adverts from the likes of YouTube?

It's just a thought that IS possible and has proved profitable with the z club. As said they're 3 or 4 films in now (I've got 3 of them) but it would be a large commitment.

However, it won't just appeal to members of this forum. If it was sold on eBay I imagine it would do very very well at say £12-£15 a pop.

Don't shoot me down please ;) just a thought for promoting the club whilst improving revenue.

I'd be more than willing to help out where I could.

Great idea :agree:

Perhaps the club could entertain the idea of buying a Go-Pro HD 2/3 camera, which gets used for ND's(*), Euro trips, trackdays, even convoys to an event?

* And to make the money back, perhaps 'hire' out the camera to rtoc members, to stick in/on their car for a given amount of laps/time at Blyton, then they get a dvd at the end of the day with their laps/video footage.

Not a bad idea matey. :) For me though I would like to see professional well edited footage showing a mature technically able club of enthusiasts. Nobs and hairy crack on display would do nothing for the clubs image.

Must say though it would require other Renault turbos taking part not just gt's. Maybe something for the not to distant once the club has a direction to go in!:agree:

I'm going to tap my mate up tomorrow and see if he'd be willing to help out for a fee. He's the official photographer for the red arrows and has access to all sorts of cool camera sh1t and all editing facilities that the RAF has to offer. Only negative being he's extremely busy in his job and is frequently abroad with the squadron.

I would be willing to help where ever possible

This guy had a 5 back in the day and he approached me to do a film. He is an amatur but enters film competitions. He might do a film of an event such as the National Day as a good subject for his own benefit.

Sounds like a great idea.
Also great idea Mart on the Gopro.... i couldnt really justify buying a camera but would happily rent one for an hour say? £20 for an hour? would pay for itself on the day 8/9 hours.
Jesus kindly lent me his camera for Oulton park but i had issues and kept having to come back in lol.

Top idea this. Even if you couldn't get sales to generate cash it will be useful as an advertising tool.

Could really do with assigning someone in the club to take charge of getting this done, as there seems to be various offers.

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sUtXrYC8Yg4The video doesn't play in my Firefox. I get a message:

The address wasn't understood
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (rtsp) isn't associated with any program.

You might need to install other software to open this address.

Clearly it works for some people here. Are you using Firefox of IE?
