With the amount of members rtoc has got. It would make sense to chip in a tenner each and spend the money about 25k to buy up all the spares or repairs fives and parts kncking about. Store them with members around the country. To make maintance and getting parts that bit easier and cheaper. Maybe even a swap shop just for members. Just a thought...

A lovely idea but I can see several holes in the plan. You say 25k, where would that money cone from? If all paid members chipped in an extra £10 (hell will freeze over quicker by the way) we'd be lucky to see a grand! And that's before we even think of the logistics......

Would love for the club to do something like that, the club should support the spares to support the cars to ensure the club continues, however as Alex says theirs no chance it'll happen :(

The members object to pay money to keep the club & the events going as it is.

On a smaller scale it works, the clubs had some really good group buys.. More of them:agree:

It's a nice idea but its as likely to happen as world peace.

Plenty of people out there braking them for sensible money.

Plus people would get the hump if people took parts they needed etc.

Probably better to suggest it to a local rtoc member and go halves on a donor

Good variety of respinses. Agree it hard to get people to part with money. Maybe a donate a part and have acccess to the range ofnparta would be good. I only say this because in a few years it will be increasingly difficult to source parts. I love 5. Lets keep em on the rd.

You'd be surprised how many parts a lot of members have.

£25k.... Wouldn't even touch the sides of Renaults stock pile...

£25k would be great if you could go and invest in getting carpets, seat materials, gear knobs engine hoses etc remade, heads, lights & service items...

I wouldn't want to guess how much mike at gtturbospares stock is worth....

By my calculations, 5 RTOC members have enough parts (all spare too) to put a car together, just need a shell!

Already done that, never again though but still got way too many spares as a lot have found out whilst coming over this direction

RAOC aka Stephen Dell bought all the rhd specific GTA/A610 parts when they cleared out Dieppe .Most of it is still sitting in a container in Sarf London .....
Trouble is ,and this is true of all car clubs ,members expect it all to be at bargain basement prices and even get huffy if someone is perceived to be making any money at it ....
The club would have to pay someone to run it on that scale as I doubt many could store it in the spare room :coffee:

Good idea, just shame its financially and logistically impossible, think most members have their own 'spare parts dept' as I have that seems to be growing with 'just incase' or bargain parts lol

I dont object to paying money for the club to keep going, yes money is tight everywhere at the moment however its a great club that saves you a fortune throughout the year in advice, discount parts, events so really that fee is fantastic value for money and literally keeps the dream alive for everyone :agree: :)

ive binned all my spares, its just old sh1t now and that goes for a lot of whats sold.. i rather wipe my ar5e with my money than buy what some people are selling... if i repair it will be new or bulletproof aftermarket..

easy way to get new or used it to go see mike and choose from 20 of everything used or get new.. let him store it and pay him a profit to do so, keeps my garage clear:agree:

I'd rather keep mike in business than clear Renault out, and have more club arguments.

:agree:its a shame we are not the sort of people from the ford owners club,a mate i knew a few yrs ago had a series 1 ford escort rs turbo he had managed to re build the car from nut & bolt everythink brand new:cool:and they dont hold back on there money either the real enthusiast
but your right though mate, with the price of parts some would even complain of the price .....but then they do want the best,i know at cgb had got rid of some of his stock cause people just wanted the best andsome people just didnt want even though it was half decient
