Hi all,
How long has it been 4 years for the removal of points on your licence, thought it was only 3?
I got 3 points from running an amber just over 3 years ago and was looking to get them removed, and I now see its 4 years.

There active for 3 years + 1 extra year they remain "printed" on your licence..
The conviction is spent, but they stay in for 4 years! :disagree:
probably so the insurance companies can still pull your pants down
mine got scrubbed last year 1 was doing 32 in a 30 zone in a ford transit turned down the speed awarness funnily enough,my mate on dec 15th got pulled over in the wet on our way back from snetterton doing 115mph and got let off by the cops wheres the justice when i got 3 points.

Speed awarness course now days mean jack as alot of insurance companies now ask if you have been on the course and if you have your insuance is likely to go up...
32mph, in a 30... Did it go to court because normally your allowed 10% +2mph..... So technically 35mph in a 30...
10% of 30 is 3 lol.
I suppose it depends on the particular police officer at the time.
Some cops are realistic and sound as- others are tossers just after a
Collar

Yea 10% of 30 is 3 and then plus 2mph makes 35
Never heard the plus 2% law before- new one on me.
(Didn't see the plus 2% bit before)
Ill ask my mate he's old bill- ill see what he says

My older bro is in the old bill, it apprently was the case that 10% plus 2 was at the discression of the officer making the stop.
i have been pulled speeding and just grovel and make the cop feel important and that im just lowly joe public.......never had a ticket yet (touch wood)

i think the 10% bit was to allow for inaccurate speedos +/- 10% accuracy??
but i could be completely wrong too

:agree:
I remember a few years back some areas were trying to introduce a zero tolerance in 30mph zones.

I was told at the time theres was no leeway at all and because there was a school a few roads away it was dangerous:crap:

It is one of them things... End of the day if its your only conviction it's no major issue... If its your 3rd then I would be worried :)

Some insurance only wanted to know 3 years. Im sure hic was one of them and possibly admiral.
I've been with HIC for most of the last 10 years and don't remember them switching to only being interested in the last 3yrs? They've always only ever been in line with everyone else (that I've spoken to at least), at 5yrs. Maybe they've changed their policy recently?
Anyway, if there are one or two companies doing this now then it's worthwhile knowing who. I don't think I've had a quote from Admiral, it would be good to confirm if they are one of them.

I had 6 non fault claims yet most insurance companies wouldn't touch you with more than 5.
When I found places that did 3 years it meant I was covered as it took me down to 3 claims.
Pretty sure it was admiral or flux
It must be Admiral that you got this with CC as I'm with Flux this year and it states the following in my policy:
Have you or any person who may drive:
(a) been involved in any accident, claim or loss (including loss by fire, theft or malicious acts), irrespective of blame, during the last five years?
This non-fault claim thing that insurance companies pile on folk is an absolute disgrace. I think they say that you're simply more prone to being in an accident. What a feckin' crock that is. If it's not your fault, you shouldn't be penalised. The ombudsman ought to be all over this. :disagree:

My dad always told me to declare everything. So lets say a car literally bumped me in traffic, no damage and both party's happy and neither of us would claim I thought I had to declare. Incidences like this made my insurance go sky high yet no claims ever made on me.
Hence car.crash.
Now I tell them only what they need to know and in up to 6 years no claims.
:agree:
Staying legal whilst getting the cheapest policy is almost an art form.
