car sounds crazy!
Hi Arthur, I don't think Alex posts on here much. It's a forged F7P with GT28RS, 0.86ar, external wastegate, large cooler and 19psi boost. I forget if it had cams or headwork sorry.

Why is it strapped on top of the roller and not sitting inside the rollers?
Higher power cars run on 1 roller.

Why so? i'd of thought that would reduce the traction?

Or is it when they lift out its dangerous?

sounds like a real beast! could produce more with more boost i guess?

It's the other way around tony. The rear roller in all major cradle dynos is not braked, it's an idler, so putting the wheels on the front roll means we have the full weight bearing down square on it instead of it being halved. The software is adjusted to remove the rear roll inertia and drag from the calculation so we get the same results whether it's run as a single roll or a cradle. Most of the really big HP dyno's run a single roll for the same reason. It's also handy if a car is very low and can't sit in the normal position.
Here's one of the high power vauxhalls I've wired & tuned, imagine trying to keep it strapped between 2 rollers without it climbing out:

A better example is Andy nicholls drag car. 2.2L 16v, GT42, 2.3 bar and nitrous and still gripping at 830hp :)

Yes I think so but the Astra VXR injectors (470cc) were maxed. It only has a standard gearbox so that is more then enough power really.
lol, always the sh*tty Renault boxes

Designed for 120hp
Still alive at 336hp, three times its design power
****ty? :wasntme::wasntme:
The JB and UN series were some of the best boxes Renault ever made, imo.
I'd have to agree with you there Dave those little boxes do seem to hang in there well.
Bet that car must be a great drive with such a small efficient turbo on it.
Also good to see another person using those bargain VXR injectors looks likes I've plenty of duty left in mine for more boost if they max out at 335hp. :)

Isnt it the casing that can also be an issue?

They can crack

my casing never cracked at over 400hp at pod the gripper lsd let go in the end snapped the sun gear straight off and destroyed all the plantrey gears in the diff.
I think you'll be glad you didn't buy it robbie. The gears still will not be that large. It's a small gearbox compared to others (and especially the VW 6 speed) so even with the best materials the JB3 will be limited by the size of gears they can fit in there.
spoke to a guy at snetty middle last year on a open pit track day, he was testing/setting up his clio 200 (i think) anyway he was running a sadev seq gearbox, he said they have to rebuild them after every race meet, running standard power:eek:
