View Full Version : what tyres?
I have been offered some Yokohama a008 175 50 r 13s cheap and wanted to know if they will fit my gordini or will the profile be too small I currently have 70 profile and the handling is awful. More like a boat then a car lol
What do people suggest? Anyone fitted such a low profile Tyre to a small wheel?

Acceleration would be improved top speed reduced Speedo will be out. How low is the car? As it will sit lower as well.
Car is standard height, am tempted to lower it but the 30year old bushes and torsion bars are putting me off lol

thats if you know what your doing ....lol the fronts can catch out the peeps that dont know:eek:
I have been warned about the subframe bushes?
are you sure they don't mean the rear trailing arm bushes?
they are a bit of a stinker, if they are rotten. - but if you gotta change them , then lowering the car really isnt gonna wreck them anymore....
Yeah trailing arm bushes, phildini told me it acelerates the wear if they have been in one place for 30 years , the price of replacements scare me..
its not the price of the bushes that should worry you. its the fitting of the bloody things :( - something i've never done thankfully :(
Oh dear what's the standard Tyre size on the dini turbo?
And I take it you have lowered gordini turbos, have you experienced the premature wear of the bushes or heard of it?
i can't remember what size they are supposed to be, although i do know a mate who fitted them a few years ago and depending on which manufacturer you go for, depends on whether the sidewall bulges out or is flat!
i have lowered my mk1 TL and Le Car 2 Turbo several times. - i know that the rear bushes do go and i know that Phildini has changed his before. they are after all nearly 30 years old. :(
Okay, from a purist if you were to buy a gordini Turbo would you like it to be unmolested or lowered?just so I know because I'm trying to keep it pretty much as it came from the factory as other is a very early dini Turbo
purists want unmolested.
most on RTOC would want it lowered. - helps handling alot!
Hmm still undecided:( if it wasn't so rare in that condition I would definitely lower it.. how hard is it to lower?
What's the widest tyre you could put on a standard rim??
how hard is it to lower?
mallet/ club hammer, metal bar, wd40, large socket, axle stands and a trolley jack - what could possibly go wrong?
