View Full Version : Clio 172
Found a 172 for sale through a mate, when you start it up it sounds like it's down a cylinder, when you rev it up it seems to clear, then it will idle for a little while & die. After it died there was still an odd noise coming from the inlet manifold or t/b area. Are there known faults in this area. The poor running may be down to fuel as it did seem very low. Just wondered if it was worth a punt for £700 with no MOT ?? It's an 03 plate.

Ph2's have an electronic tb driven by a motor and a rubber band it may be that resetting on cutout.
Seems cheap enough at that price

Could be a dodgy injector. Could be sticking until revs / pulse picks up.

Has it had belts done recently?

Don't know, I think it may be due the belts. It's just the stalling thats putting me off as I had factored the belts into the price...
Will the T/B fault show up on a machine ?
