Just wondering how many new body parts Renault still sell?

I have managed to get my hands on another shell which is nearly new but in need of a full paint (silver inside and blue engine bay at the moment). The story of the car is it was built in the early 90's, stripped and the shell had been dry stored for 20 years and it's been passed about in storage.

Mechanical wise there's nothing really I can't do and parts are easily available on Ebay but i'd like to stick with newish body panels if possible.

Are bonnets and tailgates still available, either from renault or a panel specialists? The shell has doors, and one wing if I remember ( a while since I have seen it )

I will be collecting it in the new year, so i'll get some pic's up.

Any help appreciated

Billy

Last time I was in Renault they said they could get both wings and bonnet in wings was about 45£ each and about 150£ for a bonnet couldn't get a tailgate though

If your having to do paintwork buddy I would buy decent second hand panels etc of eBay and the likes. Would think o.e parts would be expensive if renault still supply them

I think one of the back yard guys was building one up with new but gave up, can't remember what the cost was but he'd spend mega money and still wasn't finished.

Pretty sure he either froze the project or sold up..

Be cheaper to chuck all your money at the 20k gtt that someone owns, hoolio?

I am unsure about going for panels apart from OE the only reason is when I had my bmw E36 coupe the aftermarket panels didn't really line up and were a bad fit :crap:

After all the hassle I had with my last shell I wanted a minter so if I ever sold it on it there would be no come backs plus it would hopefully hold it's value.

I paid £700 for the shell with doors, all I have to do i get it sprayed and put the whole interior in etc... (possibly looking for a good donor car interior wise) the rest of it I can do i.e. engine, tank, fuel lines etc...

there is another gtt shell in a container from a guy who delt with gordini's that might be for sale... I spent abit of time negotionating this one so it's for keeps.

it'll be built to standard.

That's me, still got all the stuff I've bought for the gtt, don't really know how much I've spent but I recon it's about £10k down at Renault on new oe parts.

Can think of several problems with that idea :)

I would def get genuine OE panels, nothing worst then spending all the money and not have the whole front line up correctly after. Plus, if the prices are near what's quoted above, they don't sound to bad for the real deal.
