Need to get some advice before i sell some things but.....

When i was in Uni, i bought a lot of parts which i've yet to use, for an engine build that has yet to happen - Forged pistons mounted to sleeved rods, piper cam (in box), brand new cam followers etc etc

Before I make a decision to sell i'd like to know what I could get for them. Shall I just post up in 'General'?

I probably should just post in the for sale section with offers, i know i wont get full price, but i know what I paid, but don't know what to ask.

What are sleeved rods?

If you know what you paid for the parts I'd start with around that price and accept offers close to it? :)

i had to have a a brass insert put in the little end of the con-rod for the floating pins in the pistons.

I'll make a list of the parts i have over the next day or so and put them in the for sale section.

From memory i have:


Reground & balanced Crank and flywheel
Matched Big end and Main for the crank above
Piper 285 cam
Piper vernier pully
Piper valve springs
New packeted Ca followers x9 (they gave one too many)
New standard Inlet valves
New standard Exhaust valves
Wossner Forged pison attached to machined (brass insert little end) Con-Rods
I've already had some crazy offers for some of the stuff, but i'm not desperated to get rid, so i'll keep it as the offers are so low.

What you folkes think its realistically worth 2nd hand new??

I also have the block and the liners, but theyve been up my shed for atleast a year, so cant comment on condition - should be ok though!

Do you guys think that I could get get 4 figures for the lot?

Bearing in mind the pistons, Cam set and followers cost nearly a grand without the work done to the rods, crank, the Inlet and exhaust valves and Crank bearings.

Difficult to know what someone is willing to pay but I think I'd expect/hope for about £900 for the lot? :)
