how have people done this and retained the oil pump drive? is it as simple as cutting the dizzy up and making a plate to hold it down, or is there a better way?

Take the dizzy cap and rotor arm off, chop off the spindle, job done :)
Glen removed the dizzy on his old efi lump and had a cap in place, possibly a cartridge bearing on the remaining part of the shaft?

i wouldn't wanna risk it as it drives the oil pump. i'll see if i have any spares james if not i'll send u an SAE and some beer vouchers :agree:
maybe the drive gear in and then something like a pushrod into the recess in the drive gear and have a plate at the top sitting flush with where the dizzy sits?

Just cut yours down, once you've done this you can remove the shaft, cut that shorter and push it back in (sit's in the lower bearing). Then just cut a bit of ali and seal it over the top of the whole. Easy as tbh.
