Im currently converting an Auto Monaco to a 5 GTT, i have all the running gear striped off both an im about to put it back together an i was wonderng if i kept the monaco brake set up at the rear (no Regulater jus strait down to the hub) will it effect braking conditions much on the GTT axel..i no in the Haynes it says it prevents locking up at the rear but would that jus be under heay breaking conditions etc?????
:confused::scratch:

sorry pink..no real answers for u,but check dialogys to see if there is some type of restrictor for the campus...there has to be something..even a restrictor in the rear cylinders?

monaco would be a 1.7 engine and have 4 torsion bar drum brake setup at the rear right ??
if thats the case ,i dont think it will be anything different than my R9
there is no bias valve on these as its allready built into the wheel cylinders
as mentioned above .

i would not bother swapping the axles tbh ,drums are much better
and cheaper to maintain especially when they do a minimal amount of
the whole braking .

but if you really must ,i would deffo swap the bias valve along with the
axle .

would it be better to use somthing like this as the original units are quite old now.

There was a lad for Ireland, a few years ago, that converetd a Monaco to a turbo and kept the rear drums... I didn't read anything on him changing the rear brakes, but he didn't exactly go extreme with the power.

no, that would be an extremely bad idea

can you shed any more information please, im looking to do the same conversion and thought fitting a aftermarket bias valve would be the better option.

open up your haynes manual and have a look at how all the brake pipes are connected, then look at that aftermarket thing and try and work out how to connect it.

You might think I should make it easy for you and save you the joy of discovery, I won't, just be glad you didn't buy one before gaining enlightenment. Feel free to post up your guess as to why it's a bad idea.

ours has either 3 or 4 pipes running through the valve and that has 2, but i thought there would be another aftermarket unit out there that can cater for our lines. the point i was making was if the guy needs to hack his lines up to fit a bias valve would it not be better to do it with a aftermarket one thats new. it was just a question not a suggestion

Wouldnt you just add two? Or would adjusting be a biatch?

I suppose if people wanted the ability to adjust the brake bias they could remount the standard item inside the car and fabricate something to replace the spring adjuster?

Like a boost controller, but that might just confuse people...

I'm guessing that they are a similar price from Reno? Does anyone know if these can be re-conditioned?

Sorry for the late feedback christmas an all that :D! its not 1.7 its the 1.4 auto! when i took off the rear axel there was no Regulater on the auto????which i was thinking if its alrite in thae auto ill give it a go in a turbo (obviously wont be brakin hard to test lol) but with further inspection i found there is actually mounting brackets for the valve where they should be! can some one please explain how it works i know you adjust it with the spring but do you tightin it or loosen it as you lower the susp??
