Now how do we really know it's fully synthetic..... Changed oil in the bike this weekend just gone, and I used motorex top speed 10/40 sythetic oil. It's a JASO oil.... from the local ktm dealer who I take the bike to and they are decent guys to be fair.

But how do I know it really is fully synthetic and not mineral recycled poop.....

The web site says it "enhanced to achieve the performance level of...." and is " refined chemically " And " molecular converted ".....

Does it say anything there? I thought there was some kind of guide somewhere explaining the oils contents. Maybe that was there on maybe on another site.

I think that it might be that if you'd used a 0 W anything then you could be suer as only fully synthetic Olefin oils can be 0.

They can be 0 because they don't need viscosity enhancers as they don't get so thin when hot like other oils do.

With a 0W40, the oil is thinner (40 rated) at 100°C than at 25°C (0 rated) or something like that.

I think that there might be misleading claims on some bottles. There are different types of synthetic. There's not very good Synthetic, there's Olefin Synthetic, there's Ester Synthetic. They are mostly all blends and some will have a no more than splash of decent content just so it can say synthetic on the bottle, sometimes leaving out the word "Part" (part synthetic)

Yeah ive no doubt.... but if it says Fully sythetic which is what he's after surely that has to be fully if it says it is? or is there some dodgy dealings going on?

There are different qualities of fully synthetic.

Between oil and drug companies the whole honesty of the world is lost.

It's jaso so it must be ok. But it's hard to know if your being bent out of shape. It's apparent you can't just simply buy the best oil for your machine anymore. Bad times.
