The outside seal was hard and didnt fit like iv seen other 5's so looks like its just been holding water from a previous windscreen repair. I removed a windsceen from a scrap 5 i have here, still had oe screen fitted. a pillars are fine but bottom is rotted on that. Shows if fitted correctly they last a while.

Is this something that will be easily reapired by someone with the knowledge? I was going to cut the a pillars from the donor shell to use? But what about the bottom, any advice welcome

Mines a little like that so got mike to cut me one out a scrap 5.. I was gonna go in guns blazing but It was suggested to just drill out the spot welds and cut the minimum out the pillars so you only need to put some weld in the spot holes and then 2" of butt joint weld either side..

I'm dreading doing mine, from the outside mine looks a lot worse than yours, it's the last bit of Orange stuff that I need to sort, I will keep and eye on this thread and see how you get on.

I recently repaired mine. And am quite happy with how it looks..

Mine was rotten around the bottom corners and at the centre where the seal meets.

I cut the rust out with a cutting disc. Made up repair panels out of metal, welded them in. Considering I had never welded before it went ok tbh. I am quite pleased with the outcome.

I have some pics on my camera at home. I'll upload them to my restoration thread when I get back from Vietnam :)

I was in the same situation when my car was being restored and I bought a screen surround from mike brand new and it fit like a glove the guys who done my body work told me it would have cost me more money and time for them to repair my old one than it would fitting the new one and also a year down the line you may find your get a rust patch come up in a different part of the surround to your repair. My honest opinion save your money and time and buy one from mike unless its cheaper doing it yourself :)

Im wondering if these could be reproduced or at least a mould taken for future?

I am happy to loan one of the onbes I have here to get it copied but someone else can foot the bill this time. As the upfront costs are usually alot unless you can order 500+

Thanks
Mike

I would try Klokkerholm(.com) as mentioned earlier on here with the stills im quite shure they had them in production some years ago..
They must still have the mold/die or what ever that thing they press them in are called..
