I'm pretty cure our sparky got more money for copper wire than he did the old copper pipe.. Better quality I think and strip it as that can get you more.

How much it's worth I'm unsure.. Google it

It changes daily so worth keeping an eye on it, think its about £3 a kilo last time I weighed some in. At one point you could buy copper pipe and weigh it in for more!

yeah scrap is nice and high at the mo. good old china buying up all the metal:D
check your local scrappys as theres no point going miles as your waste it in fuel but busy ones usually are busier as the offer a better price;)

At our yard we currently buy Dry bright copper wire at £3.5k per ton divide that by 1000 and there's your per kilo price.

That's a good price for our area (North London), your area might differ slightly but, most places are there or there abouts.

Thats true to a point. Older coins are pure copper and weight wise are worth more as scrap than the coin value. Newer coins are only plated with copper (zinc inside?) and the scrap value of the coin is < than the face value.

"Copper coins made before 1992 are 97 per cent copper, which means that each 2p coin contains 6.9 grams of the metal and each penny piece contains 3.45 grams.
To get a tonne of copper it would take 145,000 2p coins or 290,000 1p coins, giving a face value of £2,900.
But if the same coins were sold for their metal content they would collect almost £4,500, after the price of copper hit a fresh high of 8,312 US dollars (£4,463) a tonne today."
