I need to take my windscreen out to do some welding. Any advice on taking it out?

Its cracked so needs replacing anyway but I don't want to smash it out and get glass everywhere.

I took mine out recently...and failed dismally. I had the correct tools etc and it cracked.

I used a local company in the end who took it out and when my car is sprayed they are putting in a new one. £90! :)

You need a long knife (this is the name of the knife) and then 90 degree cutting blade. If they have be refitted at sometime there might be alot of extra bounding in there and it can be a pain, cheese wire also works.

I used a 90 degree cutting blade and cheese wire make sure you put something covering the dash like number plates so you don't cut into it though. And I got mine out with no cracks :)

I did this recently on mine and I used MIG wire and a willing volunteer.

Make a small hole using a stanley blade, feed the wire through and then get someone to sit inside and pull it back and forth between the two of you. the trick is to have one side running parallel with the seal and the other perpendicular.

Beware of cutting into your dash like my volunteer did...

p.s. anyone selling a dashboard? :D

Cheese wire and perspex.

Assuming they're bonded in like the 21, anyway?

me and my mate removed 2 yesterday. Just pulled outer seal, then next seal. Then from inside just took a swipe with a snap blade to make a whole, poked wire through, connected to each handle and just wired it out.

Got a gaurdian windscreen, and a oe renault one out my donor shell.
