I was a very lucky boy, or maybe just spoiled but my first car was a red phase 2 GT Turbo way back in 1999 when I was 17.

G463OVR. I miss that car. Don't even have any pics of it but I have got the vin plate and front wings off of it.

I sold it to a mate who broke it for its engine. I was gutted.

It did nothing but blow head gaskets every other week but it was great.

I paid £1400 for it without knowing about the blown head gasket it had. At the time I couldn't work out how I screwed the garage down from £2k but it became clear the first time it boiled on me

My first years insurance was £2,482 tpft

Anyway, what did you guys have as your first smoker?

Ross

A 1.1 litre ford escort. The bodywork and interior were total rubbish, but engine wise it never really missed a beat :)

I still have the number plates from it :agree:

Mine was a white R5 Gt turbo, H reg 1991, got it end of 1997, totally standard with 47,000 miles on it. Worked three jobs part time when wasn't at college and took two years of no life to save up for it! Lasted three months till the head gasket popped.

Mine was a 1959 ford anglia 105e.. I got it as an Xmas present when I was 15.. Its my all time favourite car, but I had to get rid a few years later as I had no where to store it ;(

My first car that I bought when i passed my test was a mk1 escort, square head light, only a 13xl, but when that engine expired I bought a hill climb 1300 engine, was about 127hp atw :)

Always wanted a 5 GTT, but insurance was way outta reach. so in 2003 aged 18, I got a dark green 97' clio 1.2 RL :D ....fast it was not... was more like a cheech and chong taxi
it had 37,000 miles on it and paid £1400 - fully comp insurance was £1300. I thought that was steep, but looking back thats a bargain compared to some insurance now :(

Mine was the old V reg Ford Fiesta 997cc in pastel blue, 4 speed. I bought it off a mates dad for £300 a few weeks before passing my test. A week before my test another mate sat in as passenger while i drove up to Lincoln to stay at my dads, all on 'A' roads at 50mph top whack :D

That car lasted 4 weeks after passing my test, i then took a loan out to buy my first hot hatch, a 1.6 Peugeot 205 GTI in black with 1.9 wheels

Very first was astra 1.3, that blew up before I passed....

Moved in with girlfriend.... She drove old honda civic 4 door, so didn't need a car until I was 19.... Then..... Mate gave me his Renault 5 campus, in White, 1.1 engine...

I had the head gasket sealed up for 50 quid as it drank water and ran hot, no radio in it so I had a battery one on the passengers seat, it would always cut out when hot and was a bit of a nightmare to start but I loved it all the same :)

I bought a 1.6 Astra from a relation who was really chuffed that I had this for my first car. I thought it was awful so a month after passing my test bought my first R5 GT Turbo in 1991 at 17. In 1992 took a massive (at the time) bank loan for the car and insurance and traded it for a White 3 year old H reg R5 - I owned many others during the 7 years I had this one but eventually traded it for a porche 911 and possibly the biggest regret ever. Tried to find it again but think it is long time dead..:(

Mine was a H reg (1991) red ford escort 1.3 spanked the living daylights out of it every day for over a year, had all 4 wheels off the ground on more than one occasion........silly boy!

For the last six months I spanked it everywhere with the oil light on and almost zero oil in it, and it still didn't break, was only when a mates dad pointed it out that I realised what the oil light meant:ashamed:

I only paid £120 quid for it, was uber realiable and I definatly got my moneys worth! Scrapped it and purchased a mint Renault 5 GTX in black off my mums other half, I was the third owner and to this day I wish I had never sold that car:cry:

Was ripe for a Volvo lump to be thrown in, sold it to some daft bint who promptly ran it into the ground.

w reg mini city x (XTJ 520W) - it was rusty as hell and falling to bits, swapped and Amiga 500 + £100 cash for it.

Stuck a 1275 GT head on it, pancake filter and had it fueled to suit (this involved removing the needle in the carb and grinding it down in various areas LOL). Really hit and miss tuning, but never burst 1.

In 1994 I bought my first car for £900, a dark brown 1983 A reg Nova 1.0.

It took everything I could throw at it and the only thing that needed any real attention was the (ignition) points. :wasntme:

I put SR wheel trims on, a pair of Cibies up front and some very basic ICE.

I should never have sold it. Motoring cost me everything over the next 15 years.

My first car in 1999 was a Citroen AX GT 500 - a limited run of 500. It didn't get used much because I was insured under dad's company scheme to drive a new Impreza turbo.
Turning up at school with L plates on the Impreza was amusing.

Bought my first car in '99, Vauxhall Nova 1.3 SR (D314 WAV) was the one with the 'snow plough' early front spoiler, rocking some 13 inch alloys, slammed on full set of koni adjustables with a peco big bore 2 'zorst! thought it was well cool! Not quite standard although insurance company thought it was ;) Well for £650 it seemed it, although it was rather rusty and cost me £472 to put through a proper MOT, - Ouch!!! then head gasket went, so I fixed it, took it for MOT, needed welding and more welding, bought new sills and then decided it was just too rotten so sold it for about £30 a few weeks after buying the raider funnily enough... :D

Sky blue 1.3 f reg escort , only had 20000 miles on the clock , old boy that came into the garage had to stop driving due to illness and sold it to me for 300 quid , he had it from new and it was mint , I sold it on to the apprentice at work a year later for the same money and he ran it into a dry stone wall at 60 mph the same day , absolutely totalled the car, looked like the delorean from back to the future with its wheels folded underneath the body , little knob got an earful but on reflection he walked away and could have been a lot worse ! She was tidy though , XR3I wheels and cut springs , what a machine:D

my first car was a mk2 fiesta 1.4 super sport in black with the front and back bumpers of an xr2, rs turbo recaro front seats. i paid £700 for it.. i fitted a kenwood tape/am-fm head unit and velcro'd my dads old hi-fi speakers from the living room in the boot lol
i had it about a month and after sorting out all the little problems... i drove it too fast in heavy rain, lost it on the main road about 100m from my home writing it off and knocking down a dry stone wall too boot!

i then went on to buy a 3 year old saxo vtr, much to the envy of my mates. no one could beleve i had a 1.6vtr at 18 (2002)... infact the girl who i was seeing at the time's older sister told her mum i must be lying about my age because i drove a ''vtr'' lol!
i covered 40,000 miles in a year without a problem, sold it to a friend, then bought my first r5 gt turbo... i blew the head gasket on the motorway racing a mk2 golf gti within the first 2 weeks and got a crash course in r5 ownership :ashamed:
